The Truth about the Highest Paying Surrogacy Agencies

The highest paying surrogacy agencyHighest paying surrogacy agencies offer incredible opportunities for those looking to embark on a surrogacy journey. At Los Angeles Surrogacy, we experience the different stages of a surrogacy journey every single day. The strong friendships formed between surrogate mothers and intended parents, the excitement at each new pregnancy trimester, and the unmatched joy of bringing life into the world are what fuel our passion. It’s why we, along with our surrogates, do what we do.

However, we understand that the surrogate compensation can be an additional motivator and an important part of keeping a surrogate happy and healthy. We don’t take this lightly and always ensure our surrogates are fairly compensated for their commitment to their own, and the unborn baby’s, health and wellness.

Though we pride ourselves on advocating for our surrogates and their payment, we are aware that there are many surrogacy sites online claiming to pay crazy high amounts to surrogate mothers. Logically, you may find yourself applying to these sites over others that are not promising as high of a paycheck.

So what is the reality behind these numbers? Can they really pull through and pay you what they say they can?

The Highest Paying Surrogacy Agency: The Reality

By now you have done your basic research and know that surrogates are in high and increasing demand. The job is not for everyone, and there are many intended parents waiting on their perfect match to help them grow their families.

You also know that the rewards for being a surrogate include the lifelong joy of knowing you brought a miracle into an individual or couple’s life, and a pretty good base paycheck with added benefits.

Any good surrogate knows that you never take this job for the compensation, and any good surrogacy agency team member knows that an agency cannot (for legal reasons) work with women who are solely money-motivated. However, money is an important part of the game of life, and making more money is never a bad thing.

So, when you see an ad saying “Make $500,000 As A Surrogate!” why wouldn’t you click it?

These ad headlines are clickbait. Clickbait is content that is meant to attract attention and get clicks, only for the clicker to find out later that it was not upfront with the truth. These six-figure numbers do not tell the whole story.

Though we hesitate to use the word “scam,” as these numbers do hold a small amount of truth and they are not usually trying to take away any money from you, these made-up numbers are meant to peak your interest only for you to find out later that you’ll be receiving less than a tenth of what was promised.

The Misleading Calculations

Most six-figure compensation numbers include the upfront payment and reimbursement of necessary expenses. For example, the cost of IVF and surrogacy insurance alone can average over $100,000. Some of these numbers even include the agency fee that intended parents pay for agency services – and they will argue that it’s part of your paycheck because the agency is advocating for you, too. This is not a paycheck that you can spend on whatever you want – it’s not even a paycheck that you will ever see!

The surrogates who receive the best payment work with international cases. Their intended parent partners live outside of the United States, and the surrogate may never meet them or even speak their language. The scenario can deprive the surrogate mother of a lifelong friendship, shared excitement at each milestone, and the feeling of having teammates at your side each step of the way. In these cases, surrogates must decide whether the money or the experience is worth more to them.

At the end of the day, if you subtract all of the upfront expenses and subsequent reimbursements, you will realize that the base compensation is actually the same as what Los Angeles Surrogacy offers our surrogates. This number can range between $30,000-$80,000 and is based on things like:

  • If the surrogate is carrying multiples (ex. twins or triplets)
  • If the surrogate will have a C-section (a surgical procedure)
  • If the surrogate works with international intended parents
  • If the surrogate is required to travel for appointments or meetings

Before making your decision on which surrogacy agency you want to work with – and definitely before signing any contracts – be sure you are partnering with a team that you can trust with your money. We highly recommend meeting with your agency in person and reviewing your payments in your initial meeting.
